I won't claim to be any sort of expert judge of quality singing, but I feel like I can pretty much predict what Simon Cowell thinks is good and what he thinks is bad. And I can say, with a lot of certainty, that the three finalists in the Miss America Pageant last night who sang for the talent competition would not have made it past the first round of "American Idol." But maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about since the girl who was possibly the worst of the three is the girl who is now Miss America 2007. Or maybe she's just lucky Simon Cowell wasn't judging the pageant.
One of the judges made the comment that someone could play the Kazoo and as long as it was worth listening to and something people would want to hear again, then it would be good enough to win. I'm not sure what the judges were judging on because the one girl who had actual talent didn't make it past the talent competition. And I have to laugh when people associated with Miss America claim it isn't a "beauty" pageant, it's a scholarship pageant. I'm almost positive the reason Miss Utah didn't make it past the swimsuit round is because she wasn't wearing a bikini.
I guess it's a good thing I didn't pursue my childhood dream of trying to be Miss America.

Why I Love George Foreman
During my freshman year of college, I ate the exact same thing every single night for dinner. Actually, now that I think about it, I also ate the exact same thing for lunch and breakfast too. My roommates thought it was hilarious, but I never got sick of it. To this day, I can eat the exact same thing every day for months and never have any desire for anything else. I would probably still be eating the same dinner every night, but because I have a husband to cook for, that just won't fly.
My famous freshman year dinner included a very thin hamburger patty, some rice and a lot of steamed vegetables. I know that meal wouldn't appeal to most people, but I LOVED it. After a year of eating that meal, my tastes have expanded some to include more things like chicken, but hamburgers are still my favorite meal.
Because of my love of hamburgers, I could not have survived my freshman year without my George Foreman Grill. I used it every day and now, six years later, it still works like new.

Unique Golf Balls
My husband is an avid golfer and when we started dating, he convinced me to go to the driving range with him. It took a few times of swinging and completely missing the ball before I finally got the hang of it, but now I actually enjoy golfing. I'll admit that I don't know anything about what types of golf balls are the best and I'm not really convinced that it matters what kind of ball you use, but I do really like unique golf balls that aren't just white. (I once got my husband a yellow golf ball with an 'm' on it from M&M World in Las Vegas; I thought it was pretty cool).
I was really excited when I found some golf balls that are made to look like other sport balls. Being a football fan, the Football Golf Ball is definitely my favorite. There is also a Baseball Golf Ball, Basketball Golf Ball, Soccer Ball Golf Ball and a Tennis Ball Golf Ball. No matter what sport is your favorite, these golf balls will definitely make an impression.

Magnetic Dartboard
Back in my college days, my roommates and I had a magnetic dartboard that was hanging in the front room. People loved to come over to our apartment and play with the dartboard. My now husband would try to make it interesting by throwing the darts with his eyes closed or under the leg or opening the door and going out in the hall and even into the apartment across from ours and see how close he could get to the bullseye. He actually got pretty good at it.
This magnetic dartboard provided hours of enjoyment and was an easy way to entertain. The 11" Magnetic Dartboard would be an ideal giveaway for businesses such as banks, car companies or schools and would be a creative way to promote a logo or message.

Loofah
I've learned a lot of things while I've worked for American Promotions, but one thing that sticks out in my mind is the time I found out that a net sponge (I don't know if that's the official name for it, but that's what it's called on our website) is not a loofah. I found this out when a customer called in looking for a loofah and I sent him information on the net sponge and he told me that was not a loofah. I didn't really believe him until my boss told me that he was right.
Apparently, I'm the only person in the world who doesn't know what a loofah is.
